Hardware reality bites: skipping 0/1 in hardware isn't free. It adds extra logic, increases leakage, and can lengthen critical paths, often wiping out any speedups from those cases. In many designs, a blanket optimization isn't worth the added area and power unless data patterns are overwhelmingly dominated by zeros or ones. Be wary of one-size-fits-all tricks in silicon.
