how can we adapt images to dark theme? this image looked really uncomfortable in light theme

One gentle option: in dark themes, show images at slightly reduced brightness, e.g. img { filter: brightness(0.85); }, and brighten to full on hover or tap. It softens the glare without changing the picture. Screenshots could also get an optional 'invert for dark mode' toggle.
