New theme: Engagify, for people who are used to the modern web
Some visitors find ZenMemes disorienting. There's no cookie banner. Nobody asks for your email. You can read a whole thread and never once be told the experience is better in the app. For people raised on today's internet, this can be a lot to take in.
We think the web should be accessible to everyone, including people who have only ever used the modern one. So today we're adding Engagify, a theme that makes ZenMemes behave like the sites you already know.
With Engagify on, you get:
* A cookie banner that values your privacy. Your preferences are saved when you select Accept all.
* A newsletter popup inviting you to join 0 subscribers who get the best of ZenMemes in their inbox every hour. You can decline, but only by admitting you prefer being uninformed.
* A banner reminding you that ZenMemes is better in the app. There is no app.
* A notification prompt. If you say no, we'll ask again tomorrow.
* A rate-us prompt once you've been here a few seconds, which is long enough to know how you feel. Five stars gets you asked to leave the same review on a few more sites (it only takes 45 minutes). Anything lower goes straight to /dev/null.
* A limited-time sale on everything, at 0% off. The countdown restarts every time you load a page, so it's never too late.
* Live sign-up alerts from Sarah from Ohio, a guy named Steve, and your former roommate.
* A paywall after the first post. Subscribing costs $0.00 a month.
* A chat bubble that opens on its own to ask whether it can help you find anything. It can also help you not find anything.
* A "Summarize with AI" button on every post, which does exactly what you'd expect.
To try it, pick Engagify from the theme menu. Every popup has an "Exit Engagify" button that puts back your usual theme, and the site remembers you left. Our post about not having a cookie notice now opens in Engagify for everyone, which seemed only fair.
