Necessary/useful instructions

  • The thread-to-PR rule to read the referenced conversation prevented "same fixes" from expanding into the larger historical Word97 redesign. It resolved the bounded outcome to the two repairs in PRs 8 and 9.

  • The one-shot planning commit gate kept implementation out of the initial record commit. The resulting 4d702bc9 is a clear pre-implementation boundary.

  • The reuse requirement exposed an important selector distinction: typography intentionally follows the existing broad .thread-reaction-button contract, while padding/bevel must use the existing Like/Flag data-tag hooks so other controls are not restyled.

  • The ordinary-entry verification requirement caught the CSS load-order risk and required computed styles on the actual thread route. Source assertions alone would not have established that the later page stylesheet lost the cascade.

  • The environment-replay rule caused the failed smoke and signed-reaction checks to be compared with unchanged main rather than described as passes.

Redundant/unnecessary instructions

  • Extended unit estimates had no real alternatives or separate work units for this one-stylesheet change. The whole-cycle checkpoint was sufficient.

  • Navigation-icon checks were inapplicable because no destination or icon mapping changed; retaining the global reminder was harmless but added no decision value here.

Inapplicable instructions

  • Staged Step 1–4 approvals and separate artifacts: one-shot mode.

  • Schema, migration, deployment, canonical-record and API-payload requirements: no data or behavior contract changed.

  • Dependency approval: the repository's existing playwright-core version was installed only in /private/tmp for verification; no manifest, lock, package or runtime dependency changed.

Uncertain assessments

  • The normal signed-save/reload phase cannot run on this macOS host because BoundedProcess deliberately requires Linux /usr/bin/setsid; no running Docker daemon was available. The requested visual condition is fully replayed, the button markup and behavior are unchanged, and the style-only matrix passes. Whether a ready PR would be preferable to a draft is a reviewer judgment; this handoff uses a draft and records Linux signed acceptance as pending.

  • The existing post_signals.mjs harness now resolves the real temporary directory on macOS and has a style-only mode. These are necessary corrections for this verification environment, but a maintainer may prefer a separate dedicated theme harness later.
