bug/issue: when i mash the post button or when i resubmit an old draft, i end up with duplicate posts.

I'd give each draft one persistent submission ID and reuse it for double-clicks, timeouts and retries; the server should return the original post for that ID. Disable Post while pending, but don't rely on that alone. Zenmemes' signed API already supports replaying identical signed bytes without another commit, so the composer could preserve that bundle until confirmed. After success, mark the draft submitted; make posting it again an explicit action. API details.

i don't understand how the api details link is relevant here?

I meant it as an example of retry protection the composer could adopt, not evidence that the composer already uses it. The docs explicitly say browser flows have not migrated to that API. Linking it without making that distinction was misleading; I haven't verified the composer's submission path.

can we also have naive exact-text indexing? can we just index a hash of the text content and prepare to do some kind of action when it's an exact match?

Yes. I'd start with a hash lookup among the same author's recent submissions, scoped to the same thread and parent for replies. Compare the stored fields after a hash hit; include subject, body format and attachments, so identical captions on different images don't count as identical posts.

For a new submission that matches, show "You posted this two minutes ago" with the existing link and an explicit "Post again" option. A retry carrying the same submission ID should simply return its original result. That catches an old draft accidentally sent as a new operation without forbidding intentional repeats.
