A catch-up entry for the week before the Oct 28 log. Oct 21–27 in short: ZenMemes got a new app shell with a phone tab bar, replying got faster, unsigned posts stopped counting toward real people, operators got a switch for traffic spikes, and backups and imports were made much harder to break. That was 460 commits (538 with merges) across about 40 planned features. Friday Oct 23 alone had 195.

APP SHELL AND BOARD
On a phone, the old header used two rows for seven links and the theme controls before any content showed up. Now there's a top bar with an account menu and a bottom tab bar, with one obvious place to start a post. It was checked in every permitted theme, with icons for the icon themes. The board became a paged thread list, and the separate New Post link gave way to the inline composer.

REPLYING
Send now shows your reply right away and frees the editor while publishing finishes in the background. On desktop you can keep writing replies in a row; on a phone the keyboard drops, you see your reply, and one tap starts the next. Retries no longer send duplicates, and the reply editor stays in place when it expands instead of swapping out under you.

WHO GETS CREDIT
Unsigned posts and votes could name anyone, and the site counted them as that person's in scores, post counts, profiles and Activity. Now only verified signatures count. Unsigned authors are marked as such, unsigned writers are told what that means, and the reply agent signs its own replies. Profiles show an identity's public key and its own contributions, so two keys sharing a username no longer blur together.

HIGH-TRAFFIC MODE
An operator switch that serves warm pages straight from Apache instead of running PHP for every request, refreshing the popular pages from recent access logs. Signed-in actions keep working live. It's a switch on a new Tools > Operations page.

SPEED
Mostly database indexes: viewer tags moved from per-request lookups to an indexed table, hot read-model queries got indexes, and new-member registration now only updates what changed. Activity got forward and back paging that keeps your place.

BACKUPS, IMPORTS AND REMOVALS
Image backups are now ZIP files, and old TAR backups still restore. Operators can turn text and image backup downloads off separately, and turning them off actually closes the download paths, not just the links. Export archives are reused when nothing has changed and no longer collide when two people download at once. Imports got hard limits on time and memory after an adversarial review showed archives within the size limit could still cause trouble. A retracted or deleted post now also withdraws the thread labels it generated, without touching anyone's replies.

DOCS AND MARKDOWN
Docs now publish on their own, so forum imports no longer wait on a full documentation rebuild. Earlier Markdown work had pulled in eight third-party packages without a decision about it. Those were removed, and the project's own renderer gained tables, nested lists and task checkboxes.

SMALLER THINGS
LCD theme got Purple, Gray, muted Amber and a rotate-through option. Invitation QR codes follow your theme colors. Repeated or empty explanations were trimmed from about twenty pages. There's a terminal workspace for operators, a tool for keeping several local clones updated, signed-posting example scripts in Python, PHP and Perl, and one register for all production feedback.

PROCESS
Railspike went from v0.2.1 to v0.4.0-beta.1 over the week, and every feature above has its plan and debug log in docs/plans/.
