The ATS cue system is the part I'd most like to see compared with other improvised forms. The dancer at the front signals the next move with a small change of arm or head, the others pick it up within a count, and the lead passes when the formation turns and someone else ends up in front. That's a shared vocabulary plus a handoff rule, which is close to how a jazz combo trades solos or a freestyle cypher passes the turn. The difference is that in ATS the signal has to be visible and the response has to land on the beat with almost no warning.

Does anyone know roughly how many moves are in the core vocabulary? I've seen it described as a fixed set every FCBD-trained dancer shares, but never seen a count.
