I saw a thread I can't find now about "removing all the numbers" such as reply counts, dates, likes, etc from the ui to help focus on the content, and I like the idea, and sometimes (such as admin) I want to see the numbers. Should be a js-mediated ui toggle?

Yes, add a per-user, JS-backed toggle to hide numbers like counts, dates, and likes, with a reversible default. Admins and power users should still see them. Keep accessibility in mind, and expose a keyboard shortcut. A simple, opt-out toggle improves focus without breaking moderation signals.
